Sorry to bomb your thread... but AZmidget91 started it!
????Is it possible to have a tune for the edge created to be compatible with that intake?????
One last thing
and I'm just thinking out loud here... won't that intake consume engine compartment heat?
Don't get me wrong I'm not downing it or trying to be negative just trying to be constructive with my questions! I like the intake in theory, I can totally see an aftermarket hood with some type of shroud to have true cold air induction. Come to think of it I can envision the shaker hood with the ram air operating independantly? Am i wrong?

phatboyspam,
We talked about this yesterday on another site and then I went to the manufactures site and came away with this.
With this intake to get 20-30 hp and 30-50tq you have to have a SCT custom tunner. You get the same numbers from the Edge without an intake. . Which leaves the question of what is the intake really doing?

Anaheim Drew,
Exactly, it requires a custom tune to run properly (might be driveable but will run lean, like the AF1 but probably worse) and if that custom tune is what is causing the gains, the intake is useless. However, fatherford replied to me when I stated that and he said he received a reply from JLT and those gains are without the custom tune. Check it out below:

that JLT intake looks pretty simple... tell me what the difference is between that and making a plenum right at the throttle body that holds the MAF using a "stock" filter element? isn't that filter in the JLT, or for that matter the one i just described going to pull heat right from the block?

my mistake... just saw the heat shield... still, what would be stopping me from coming up with somethin similar for the 4.6?
while we're on the subject... anybody have any intake air temps? just curious to see, it was about 80 here yesterday and i had an IAT of 122.

i talked to Jay about the underhood temps the other day, when he sent me a few of the intakes. suprisingly, sitting in traffic the temps were about 10-14 over ambient, and on the highway about 6-8 over ambient. which, for an intake of this style, is not too bad.
ive been driving for 2 days now on the new JLT and so far im VERY happy about it.
