Cop said it`s 31.5" in the front and 34.5" in the back. I`m going to measure it myself later because I never saw him take out a ruler. He also measured the front from the corner and not the lowest part in the middle. I know it`s too high but I don`t think it`s as bad as he was acting like.
My truck is really not that big. It angers me that I got pulled and as he`s getting into his car to write me a ticket a superduty towering over 38`s goes by and I`m the one getting harassed. I could understand if I was out horsing around acting like a moron and he pulled me, but I was driving slow trying to let the engine heat up minding my own business...then there he is.
What gets me the most is I NEVER got a lift ticket in that old white POS I used to drive and it was a 1/2 ton and sat almost as high as this truck. I also had no front bumper on it at all for the last six months or so that I drove it. Never one peep out of the cops other than my tires sticking out too far and I still didn`t get a ticket. And even more, I`ve had this truck since July and I`ve driven it every day I have had it. He waits till NOW to pull me over? Sheets must have run out of Krispy Kremes. OR he`s a Jeeper:
I`m sure it`s a little high for the law but damn, a stock F-350 doesn`t sit very far from that height. I only have a 6" lift and 38`s.
Worst thing is if I want to drive my truck to work anymore I`ll have to lower it because Hanover cops are bored and sit in the Airpark and pull people for stupid things while they are trying to go to work and come home.
Anyhow I`m done complaining. I know I`m not the only one here who has had this problem. We really should try to get rid of those stupid laws. I can understand keeping them under the bridges and streetlights and not being able to run 66" tires but 30" in the front and 31" in the back is just lame. There has to be a better way.

Sorry to hear of your Bad Luck. Some people never get pulled, and others do, there`s no explanation.

I don`t necessarily agree with the lift laws myself, and it seems hit or miss (usually dependant on the officer) as to how they enforce them. That said, there`s a reason they`re in place.
Trucks have long braking distances and lots of mass, even stock, and in the event that a truck hits a car...well, the car is going to lose. When a truck is lifted, it`s even worse. Most people that lift their trucks don`t put street tires on, add lots more rolling mass by way of heavier rubber, so braking distances suffer even more. In a front or rear collision, a high bumper actually makes things even worse for your average car because the truck ends up bypassing the crumple-zones of the car designed to absorb the impact. A side, or t-bone, collision with a lifted truck puts a 30" bumper up near the belt-line of a car, near the windows. That`s never good for the occupants.
I only bring that up because I was hit by a lifted Ford Bronco that ran a red light back in 1997. He was 2" over the legal limit up front, and that was brought up in court several times. He hit me off-set at about 30mph and ended up running over and through the front end of my car, and his bumper ended up against my broken windshield. I was driving a 1987 Buick (my first car), and it`s not like it was a small car (land yacht). I ended up with a concussion and stitches and my passenger needed surgery for a compound fracture to her arm. Bumper and ride height do matter.

I`ve found most cops get jealous when yours is bigger than theirs.

Better dig in the books and get the rules out. Figure out if it matters when and how he measured the truck. Did he have a dash cam? Idea is if he isn`t seen measuring the truck then how did he get the measurments. BE WARNED!! You may stir up the hornet`s nest and he`ll be gunning for you at every turn.

Yeah they do pick and choose. I measured it myself and got 32 in front and 33 in the rear. So I`m guessing that he just figured his belly hung about 34.5" from the ground and it was even with the bumper.
Dave, I agree with all of that and I understand it could be dangerous. If I were at fault for an accident I would expect to not get it easy in court if I were at fault. I really just think you should be able to lower the bumper height or something. The way the law is written they just don`t want you to lift a truck period. I always take extra care on the road as I am aware that I am driving 7000lbs of death if I get careless with it.
I need to do some research and figure out if I can put bigger bumpers on it or if that counts as lowering the bumper height. My understanding of altering the height would be changing the brackets. If you simply put a taller bumper on it to hang lower would that be ok?
Eric, I know man the color does grab your eye. I really think it`s just bored cops in Hanover.
Heavy, Yeah I really don`t want to piss him off. He was one of those guys who is just being a complete jerk but being nice about it. He`d probably love to write me a ticket every time he sees me till I lower it. I also read the law a few more times and it states that the measurement from anywhere on the bottom of the front bumper cannot exceed 30" and same for the rear but 31".
And for the record it WILL not get lowered, I`ll just be pimping the Merc to work from now on. At the most I will stick some 35`s on it and put the 38`s on when I go out playing around or when it won`t be going to that county again for a while.
I`m hoping to find a set of 35`s or 36`s on wheels for a good price soon.
Also thought about knocking the suspension down to 4" and putting a 3" body lift on it just to make it look exactly the same but leave the bumpers lower. It`d be legal then and the body would be up higher.

Dont even get me started on being pulled over and getting a ticket.
The lift laws in this state need Improving for sure.
Max right now as far as height goes is 30 in the front and 31 in the rear.
From bottom of the bumpers, ask them to show you the law. GVWR rate
Thats with GVWR of 9000 lbs on door sticker Believe me.
Now if your sticker says anything less than that you should also drop your height 29 front 30 rear and so on.
Good luck

Alot of the height laws also bases on the weight of your truck the heavier it is on the door gives you a little to play with here and there.
